Does Blackbird Cottage have parking?
Parking is generally available on the unrestricted streets around Blackbird Cottage. Additionally, there is a long-stay car park at Yarn Barton, a 3-minute walk away. Parking in the square is free between 6:00 PM and 8:00 AM.
Can I charge my EV?
There is no charging facility at the cottage. However, public charging is available nearby at Yarn Barton car park. Due to insurance restrictions, we cannot accommodate the charging of other electric vehicles, including bikes and mobility scooters.
Can I bring my dog?
While we love dogs, we currently do not have facilities to accommodate them.
Are there shops nearby?
Yes, there is a small Co-op open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. Additionally, local independent shops, including a bakery, butchers, greengrocers, and a deli, are within walking distance. Larger supermarkets are available in Crewkerne and Bridport.
How many bathrooms do you have?
We have one large shower room with double sinks, located on the ground floor.
Can I check in early?
Check-in time is 4:00 PM. We may be able to accommodate an earlier check-in depending on our schedule.
Can I check out late?
Check-out time is 10:00 AM. We may be able to accommodate a later check-out depending on our schedule.
Are there places to eat and drink nearby?
Yes, Beaminster offers 2 award-winning restaurants, 4 cafés, and 2 pubs, all within a short stroll from the cottage.
You have three bedrooms; how come you only allow 5 guests?
Although we have ample sleeping space, there is only one bathroom and limited seating in the sitting room, hence the maximum of 5 guests.
You’re close to the church; do the bells ring during the night?
The church clock does chime during the night, but most guests find it relaxing and part of the location’s charm.
Do you have low ceiling heights?
Yes, Blackbird Cottage is nearly 300 years old with beams and low ceiling heights in the sitting room and kitchen.
Is the cottage suitable for children?
We welcome children of all ages. However, very young children will need supervision due to uneven flooring, steps between rooms, and a small pond in the garden. We have a travel cot, stair gate, and fire guard available upon request.
Do you except wedding guest?
Yes we are near several popular wedding venues and are happy to except bookings for stays however we can not except bookings for less that 2 nights this also depends on the time of year when the minimum stay may be 5 nights.
