From the moment you step outside, you can head straight into beautiful countryside, with routes ranging from gentle strolls to more energetic walks. In addition, many well-marked circular paths begin right at the doorstep and lead you back to Beaminster, where, after your walk, you can enjoy homemade cake in a local café or perhaps a cheeky pint in one of the town’s welcoming pubs.

- Circular Walk to Netherbury: A 3.5-mile route that takes you through open countryside, woodlands, and alongside streams.
- Mapperton House: A 2.4-mile hilly walk through footpaths, open fields, and woods. Keep an eye out for the deer in Parnham Park.
- Stoke Abbott: A gentle 1.8-mile walk along a quiet road, perfect for a relaxing stroll, ending with a drink at the New Inn.

Just a 20-minute drive from Blackbird Cottage near Beaminster lies the iconic Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO Site. Along the way the journey there is an experience in itself. Known locally as “The Coast Road”, the B3157 gently winds along the coast line and is regularly ranked among the most scenic drives in the country. As a result, with sweeping sea views and charming coastal villages along the way, it’s easy to see why it’s so highly praised.
